Mock- Question 3

I hear that you are looking for a brand new music magazine to intrigue audiences greatly. I know that I have exactly what you want to float your boat. This brand new idea is going to blow readership through the roof as I know this is the best indie magazine to date.

TitleThe name I've chosen for the magazine is 'shuffle' has connotations with mixing up music on an iPod, mp3 player etc... When the audience first notice the word it is automatically linked to music, hence why it's a great name to match it's content. Other magazines that use symbolic titles such as 'vibe' are very successful and mine will definitely be no exception! The masthead will be bold and a plain yet bright colour to catch peoples' eyes.

House style
'Shuffle' is a unisex magazine for mid-teens to mid-twenties, the colours and masthead need to match this audience so the colour would be blue as it is professional, along with shades of white and black. On every issue of the magazine release there will be an image of an artist. If there isn't an image, it isn't a typical magazine is it? The slogan will appear each time the magazine is released 'be an indievidual' I added two words together to display originality and to make it clear the genre of the magazine, indie... See what I did there?

Regular features
Regular features are very important when deciding what will be inside the magazine. Each month there will be interviews with other artists, competitions, must go! (to events) etc... If I have repeated features it will be very recognisable and that's what we want if 'shuffle' was to launch, because it is the best way to gain a secure fanbase. The contents page is a very important aspect to the magazine as it need to be a easy way to see where things are, which you probably already know... But the point is, mine will be no different to this and every month I will use the same colours, masthead, subheading etc, and the only thing that will change will be the images and the page numbers with the labels.

Target audience
Target audience is the heart and soul of the magazine, if there's no customers, there's no point in making a magazine! The leading magazine 'NME' gained a circulation of 23,000 copies of their magazine in a week, I hope to match these figures as the magazine is up to the same standards as NME. The magazine is suitable for the audience as it will have only that genre of music in so people can choose to read what they enjoy. Figures should improve as the weeks go on as the fan base will stay sincere to the magazine and will hopefully repeat purchasing the magazine each month. Also, as the age of the audience that I'm aiming for are into social networking, I will make sure that the website is a good way to gain more readers, 5.3million users went onto the NME website, so I do not jump ahead and expect that many visits when the magazine first launches but i would like 1million.

Look, I know that hundreds of people want their magazine to be used. Stop looking for a magazine when their is a perfect one right now, right here, right under your nose. No need to 'shuffle' through more ideas.
